# Product photo tracker and shot lists for shops

Product photo tracker and shot lists for shops is a SaaS idea for online fashion, homeware and gift shops with many products and new seasons, priced to test at $29 a month per shop. New products go live with one phone photo because nobody tracked what was missing. With it, shops see which products lack photos, build a shot list for the photo day, and share it with their photographer.

_Published 19 Oct 2026. A starting point we wrote, not market research: run the 7-day test before you build._

## What problem does it solve?

New products go live with one phone photo because nobody tracked what was missing. On shoot day the photographer gets a vague list, shots are missed, and a second shoot costs more.

**Why now:** Shoppers now expect photos of every colour, plus lifestyle and scale shots, and skip products without them.

## What do they use today?

Shops often keep a spreadsheet of products with a column for photos, or rely on someone remembering which items were shot. The brief for the photographer is a long email or a shared document.

## How does it work?

The shop owner imports the new season’s products, and each one gets a photo checklist based on its type, such as front, back and detail shots. For the photo day, the owner builds a shot list from the products that need photos and shares it with the photographer, who uploads pictures and ticks off each shot. Before a product goes live, a report shows what is still missing.

## What goes in the first version?

- Product import with a photo checklist for each one
- Required shots per product type, like front, back, detail
- Shot list for a photo day, printable and shareable
- Photographer invited to upload and tick off shots
- Missing-photo report before a product goes live

## Who pays, and how much?

- **Who pays:** Online fashion, homeware and gift shops with many products and new seasons
- **Price to test:** $29 a month per shop

Shops plan photos for the whole catalogue and add products all year, so a flat monthly price per shop matches the work. It is one steady line in the budget, not a bill per shoot.

## How to test it in 7 days

1. Ask five shop owners how they plan a photo day and what got missed last time.
2. Ask three product photographers how clients brief them and what they wish clients sent.
3. Audit one shop’s listings by hand, send a missing-photo report and ask if they’d pay monthly.

## Where to find the first customers

- Online shop owner groups on Facebook
- Freelance product photographers who shoot for small shops
- Small-business ecommerce subreddits

## What are the risks?

- Some shops shoot only once a season, so monthly value must be clear.
- Photographers have their own delivery tools; uploads here must feel easier, not extra.

## How to build it on shipanysaas

4 of the parts it needs are already in the kit. Get the kit, open it in Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, and paste the starting prompt.

**Already in the kit:** Teams and roles, Billing, Emails, In-app notifications

**You build:**

- Product import with photo checklists
- Shot list builder and printable view
- Photographer uploads matched to products

### The starting prompt

```text
You are in a fresh copy of the shipanysaas starter kit, a pnpm and Turborepo monorepo: the Next.js web app is in apps/web and the Supabase database, with its migrations, in apps/web/supabase. Help me build the first version of Product photo tracker and shot lists for shops.
Read AGENTS.md first, then the AGENTS.md in every folder you work in: the kit's rules there win over your defaults. When a skill in .agents/skills (also in .claude/skills and .cursor/skills) matches a task, use it.
## The product
- What it does: Shops see which products lack photos, build a shot list for the photo day, and share it with their photographer.
- Who pays: Online fashion, homeware and gift shops with many products and new seasons
- Their problem: New products go live with one phone photo because nobody tracked what was missing. On shoot day the photographer gets a vague list, shots are missed, and a second shoot costs more.
- Price to test: $29 a month per shop (a plan in apps/web/config/billing.config.ts)
## Build only this first version
1. Product import with a photo checklist for each one
2. Required shots per product type, like front, back, detail
3. Shot list for a photo day, printable and shareable
4. Photographer invited to upload and tick off shots
5. Missing-photo report before a product goes live
## Already in the kit: reuse it, never rebuild it
- Teams and roles: team accounts with members, roles and invitations
- Billing: Stripe or Lemon Squeezy subscriptions, per seat or usage-based, and one-off payments
- Emails: transactional email through Resend or Nodemailer
- In-app notifications: a notifications bell in the web app
## New code it needs
- Product import with photo checklists
- Shot list builder and printable view
- Photographer uploads matched to products
## How to work
1. Plan first: list the database tables (with row-level security, so each team only sees its own rows), the pages and the server actions for the first feature. Then stop and wait for my OK.
2. Build one feature at a time with the kit's own UI and form components, with a migration for every schema change and user-facing text in the translation files.
3. After each feature, run the verification steps in AGENTS.md, fix what they find, and tell me what you built and what comes next.
## Rules
- Ask me before you add a dependency, delete a file, or change sign-in, billing or the admin panel.
- Leave the parts of the kit this product doesn't use as they are.
Done when every first-version feature works for a signed-in team and the AGENTS.md checks pass.
