# Weekly check-ins for online coaches

Weekly check-ins for online coaches is a SaaS idea for online fitness, nutrition and business coaches with 10 to 100 clients, priced to test at $29 a month for up to 30 clients. Check-ins arrive as forms, DMs and photos in different apps. With it, clients send a weekly check-in from their phone, and the coach reviews progress and replies from one inbox.

## What problem does it solve?

Check-ins arrive as forms, DMs and photos in different apps. Coaches spend evenings piecing together who did what, and clients who go quiet slip away.

**Why now:** Coaches with growing client lists need a weekly routine that scales, without moving everything to an all-in-one coaching platform.

## What do they use today?

Most coaches use a shared form, a messaging app and a spreadsheet side by side, and copy numbers across by hand. A client who goes quiet is only noticed when the coach scrolls back through old chats.

## How does it work?

Each week a client opens the phone app and answers the questions their coach set, adding a photo and a few numbers. The numbers are charted over time on that client’s page, and the coach works through an inbox sorted by who needs a reply first. A client who skips a week is flagged, so the coach can send a message before they drift away.

## What goes in the first version?

- Weekly check-in questions per client
- Photo and number answers, charted over time
- A coach inbox sorted by who needs a reply
- A flag for clients who skipped a week
- Client check-ins from the phone app

## Who pays, and how much?

- **Who pays:** Online fitness, nutrition and business coaches with 10 to 100 clients
- **Price to test:** $29 a month for up to 30 clients

A price that covers a set number of clients suits a coach who grows by adding clients, not staff. It replaces the mix of forms, chats and spreadsheets the coach juggles now.

## How to test it in 7 days

1. Ask in r/PersonalTraining how coaches collect check-ins.
2. Interview five coaches about clients who quietly left.
3. Offer a free month to three coaches who move their check-ins over.

## Where to find the first customers

- r/PersonalTraining
- Coaching communities on Instagram and Facebook
- Alumni groups of coaching certifications

## What are the risks?

- All-in-one coaching apps exist, so the angle is check-ins only, for less.
- Health data needs careful privacy handling.

## How to build it on shipanysaas

5 of the parts it needs are already in the kit, the phone app with the All-in plan. Get the kit, open it in Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, and paste the starting prompt.

**Already in the kit:** Teams and roles, Billing, Emails, In-app notifications, Phone app with All-in

**You build:**

- Check-in question builder
- Progress charts per client
- Coach review inbox

### The starting prompt

```text
You are in a fresh copy of the shipanysaas starter kit, a pnpm and Turborepo monorepo: the Next.js web app is in apps/web and the Supabase database, with its migrations, in apps/web/supabase; with the All-in plan, the Expo phone app is in apps/native. Help me build the first version of Weekly check-ins for online coaches.
Read AGENTS.md first, then the AGENTS.md in every folder you work in: the kit's rules there win over your defaults. When a skill in .agents/skills (also in .claude/skills and .cursor/skills) matches a task, use it.
## The product
- What it does: Clients send a weekly check-in from their phone, and the coach reviews progress and replies from one inbox.
- Who pays: Online fitness, nutrition and business coaches with 10 to 100 clients
- Their problem: Check-ins arrive as forms, DMs and photos in different apps. Coaches spend evenings piecing together who did what, and clients who go quiet slip away.
- Price to test: $29 a month for up to 30 clients (a plan in apps/web/config/billing.config.ts)
## Build only this first version
1. Weekly check-in questions per client
2. Photo and number answers, charted over time
3. A coach inbox sorted by who needs a reply
4. A flag for clients who skipped a week
5. Client check-ins from the phone app
## Already in the kit: reuse it, never rebuild it
- Teams and roles: team accounts with members, roles and invitations
- Billing: Stripe or Lemon Squeezy subscriptions, per seat or usage-based, and one-off payments
- Emails: transactional email through Resend or Nodemailer
- In-app notifications: a notifications bell in the web app
- Phone app: an iPhone, iPad and Android app on the same backend (All-in plan)
## New code it needs
- Check-in question builder
- Progress charts per client
- Coach review inbox
## How to work
1. Plan first: list the database tables (with row-level security, so each team only sees its own rows), the pages and the server actions for the first feature. Then stop and wait for my OK.
2. Build one feature at a time with the kit's own UI and form components, with a migration for every schema change and user-facing text in the translation files.
3. After each feature, run the verification steps in AGENTS.md, fix what they find, and tell me what you built and what comes next.
## Rules
- Ask me before you add a dependency, delete a file, or change sign-in, billing or the admin panel.
- Leave the parts of the kit this product doesn't use as they are.
- If apps/native is not in your copy (the Starter plan), build the web app only.
Done when every first-version feature works for a signed-in team and the AGENTS.md checks pass.
